How to create a secure password

You may ask why do I need a secure password ? The reason is because hackers can get access to your account by using automated software to crack your password, by trying one password in lots of places or by trying to trick you into disclosing your password through scams.

Creating strong, separate passwords and storing them safely is a good way to protect yourself online.

Your email password should be strong and different to all your other passwords. This will make it harder to crack or guess.

If you are a business owner, your e-mail and other accounts may include sensitive information about your customers, your business or your finances.

If your online accounts are not secure, your business could be more at risk of a cyber incident. This may put your business at legal or financial risk, and at risk of breaking the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When you use different passwords for your important accounts, it can be hard to remember them all.

A good way to create strong, memorable passwords is by using 3 random words.

Do not use words that can be guessed (like your pet’s name). You can include numbers and symbols if you need to. For example, “RedPantsTree4!”

Saving your passwords in your browser will help you manage them.

Please note that SystemTek Technical Services (or our providers) will never e-mail or call you to ask you to confirm your password, if you receive such a call or e-mail please contact us.
